When Everyone Can Work,
Anything Is Possible.
Oregonians believe everyone should have an opportunity to work and fulfill their dreams.
For many, a job can open doors to new possibilities. They can provide greater purpose and financial means to pursue a better life. Whether saving for tomorrow or supporting everyday needs, earning income leads to different outcomes.
When we work we grow as people, proudly showcasing our unique talents to the world. We find camaraderie in our co-workers and client relationships, and feel whole when we are able to contribute to our family, company, and community. What we do for a living does not define who we are, but it is surely an important piece of our identity.
In 1977, the Oregon legislature passed a law ensuring public agencies source goods and services produced by people with living with disabilities—a vulnerable portion of the population often left out of traditional work environments. A network of qualified nonprofit partners emerged offering training and employment opportunities, and working closely with state and local government agencies to meet their needs while benefiting the greater good.
Today, purchasing decision-makers throughout Oregon are making a difference by sourcing a range of goods and services through the Oregon Forward program. Thousand of lives are being affected each year as the positive impact of this program sends ripples through the community. Participating in this program not only fulfills public sector needs, but changes people’s lives.
By working together, we realize potential in all people.
Opportunities ahead. Oregon Forward!
